Dhaka: Tests for Junior School Certificate and Junior Dakhil
Certificate have begun amid political turmoil over the upcoming polls.
The JSC exams started at 10am on Thursday with the candidates taking English first paper tests.
The JDC candidates were taking the test for Arabic first paper, said education ministry spokesman Subodh Chandra Dhali.
19,02,746 grade VIII students are taking the examinations this year --more than half of them, 10,07,655 are female students.
15,87,313 students are taking the JSC, the rest JDC tests.
The exams, due on Nov 4, was deferred due to the Opposition’s 60-hour strike.
JSC students were slated to take the Bangla first paper exam on Nov 4 and for Bangla second paper on Nov 6.
JDC aspirants were to sit for Quran and Tazbid on Nov 4 and Arabic first paper on Nov 6.
The BNP-led 18-Party alliance enforced a countrywide shutdown on Nov 4-6, demanding a non-party government to supervise the polls.
The government deferred the schedules a day before the start of the exams.
The tests for Nov 4 will take place at 2:15pm on Nov 8.
The examination for Nov 6 will be held at 10am on Nov 9.
Creative questions will be introduced in subjects other than the Bangla Second Paper, English First and Second Paper and mathematics.
A number of examinations had to be rescheduled during the Opposition's previous shutdowns.
Five SSC and equivalent tests were deferred earlier resulting in the rescheduling of exams for 37 papers.
For the HSC and equivalent tests, 41 papers had to be rescheduled due to the Opposition's shutdowns.
